For nearly two decades, his musical journey has been largely informed by an unwavering thirst for truth and self-expression. Embodying both the light and darkness of the human experience, Deutsch aims to invoke a timeless presence. Improvisation is at the heart of his artistry. “Improvisation is the act of being present. One must listen beyond their own narrative, embody that at hand, and produce a fruitful compositional offering. It is difficult and fleeting, but may yield deep beauty.”

Parlor Music: Emmitt James
As the kick off to his new check-in-to-check-out hotel residency experience, Milwaukee emcee Emmitt James is taking up residence at the Parlor Hotel. The residency opens with a Saturday night lobby show featuring James’ unique jazz-rap fusion over live violin and piano backtracks with a special-feature spoken word set by his partner Jamai.
From the DIY circuit to playing bigger stages like the Roxy and the Novo, Emmitt James is a well celebrated and experienced performer. The Midwest bred emcee recently returned from LA is reminiscent of acts like A Tribe Called Quest, Anderson. Paak and The Internet.
Since being billed for Pharcyde Phestival ( 2018), Emmitt has been gaining momentum from opening for legendary acts such as The Pharcyde and Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) to contemporary acts like Cuco, Joey Purp, Duckwrth, Old Man Saxon, Jay Prince, Banesworld and more. He also was a semi-finalist (top 12 out of 1,000) in the Adidas Originals Sound Lab grant competition where he scored a meeting with Pusha T at ComplexCon 2018.
